These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Scottish Smoke Alarms website and services. By accessing or using our website or booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

2. Services We Provide

We offer the supply and installation of smoke alarms, heat alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors, ensuring compliance with Scottish fire safety legislation. Services include:

Site assessment

Alarm supply

Wireless installation

Issuing of compliance certificates

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel services at our discretion.

3. Booking & Appointments

To book an installation, you must provide accurate contact and property information. Appointment times are subject to availability and confirmation. We aim to complete installations as scheduled but may reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, illness, or supply delays).

4. Payment Terms

Payments are due on the day of installation unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept payments by cash, bank transfer, or other agreed methods. All quotes include VAT unless stated otherwise.

Failure to make payment may result in withheld certification or additional charges.

5. Cancellation & Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule an appointment with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a call-out fee. We reserve the right to charge for wasted journeys if no one is available at the agreed time.

6. Warranty & Liability

All alarms we install come with a manufacturer’s warranty, typically 5 to 10 years depending on the model.

Scottish Smoke Alarms is not liable for:

Damage caused by tampering or improper use after installation

Alarms not maintained or tested as recommended

Any losses arising from false alarms, alarm failure, or delay in detection

Our liability is limited to the cost of the original service provided.

7. Certification

We issue a compliance certificate upon completion of a full installation that meets current Scottish smoke alarm regulations. Certificates are only valid if full payment has been received and installation was completed by us using approved alarms.

8. Use of Website

By using this website, you agree not to:

Misuse or attempt to gain unauthorised access

Copy, reproduce, or distribute content without permission

Submit false or misleading information through our forms

All website content is the property of Scottish Smoke Alarms and may not be reproduced without written consent.

9. Personal Data & Privacy

We collect personal data such as names, emails, phone numbers, and addresses to provide our services. All data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By contacting us or booking an installation, you consent to the processing of your data as outlined therein.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
